Mervyn White has been elected by the Branch as its new Branch Secretary in a bllot of all members
Mervyn polled 437 votes, with Jock Mullen gaining 184.
Mervyn will officially take up his duties on 21 March, replacing David Graves who stood down after 7 years in the job
Mervyn has worked for North Lincolnshire Council,and before that Humberside County Council, for 28 years, initially as a teacher, and for the last 14 years as a laboratory technician.
As a teacher he was an active member of the National Association of Schoolmasters and Women Teachers.
In 1991 he became a steward in NUPE and was active both at local level and county wide. During that time he was a member and from time to time the Chair of the Education JCCs.
Following the creation of UNISON, he was Treasurer and Minute Secretary for the Humberside Joint Executive.
Mervyn was fully involved in the creation of the North Lincolnshire branch and has been Treasurer since its formation until this year. In North Lincolnshire he has served on most negotiating groups and working parties in Education,was a representative on the former Education Committee and is a member of the Education Forum
